Artist Statement: To be honest Growing up I hated art. I always felt it had to be perfect for it to be considered true art and this made me doubt my work. Nothing was ever good enough. time went on and as I got older this hatred began to simmer. I started to build my very own perspective of art and what art means to me, which is portraying a message that is portrayed by the choice of what you put into your art that being colors, shapes, lines, etc. Living in Chicago you tend to see art around every corner, for example, the Greetings From Chicago by Victor Ving & Lisa Beggs that just brightens things up around the city. In all actuality nowadays I see art I can’t help but be amazed. My favorite mediums are photography and digital art. In my portfolio, you will see a mixture of both. With my digital art, I always plan it out before I even go to my computer, and if everything I imagine doesn’t work out the way I want it I always find a loophole. I got into digital media my freshman year and after that, it stuck with me I never want to give up on it. My love for photography is pretty new. I joined a group called shine on Chicago which was taught by Jim Kropp an excellent teacher. Learning how to use a camera and taking photos all summer was such a great experience. I met so many great people and came out of my comfort zone. I take photos of things that catch my attention like people and their facial expression. I came a long way from that kid that hated art to someone who thinks art is something I couldn’t live without.
