Artist Statement: “Serve and Protect” is a photograph that I took to capture the inequality of power. It was taken on the city’s westside to show the dedication of our police department. However, at what cost, to serve and protect who? I want the audience to understand that if there is a police car sitting in different areas of the city are they serving and protecting? And if so, who are they serving, and who are they protecting?
