Artist Statement: Betye Saar is an artist who is inspirational and busted stereotypes in the world today and years ago. She is a black American artist who gave off empowerment and statements in her work. She used her perseverance to make sure her work said something. I have noticed a stereotype in my life that people think black kids don’t have 2 parents. I do! I don’t like it when people think this. I mixed brown and pink, and then I thought of my hobbies like baking, traveling and softball. I added stickers that said “memories” because I have a lot of them in my head!
