Artist Statement: For a long time, I’ve been fascinated with the idea of being able to look into someone else’s mind and trying to experience/figure what may have been going through their mind at a certain time in their life. This is a painting of Robin Williams, focusing on the months before he committed suicide. Williams had been diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia, resulting in him not only losing his memory, but becoming paranoid, worsening his depression, and causing him to essentially lose his mind. He had, in a way, physically become a shell of the person he used to be, and had become trapped inside his own body. I wanted to depict this, and try to place myself inside his mind at that time.
