Artist Statement:

This is my painting titled “A Jar of Dreams”. This jar represents everything that I’ve wanted to be, the jobs that I want to have, and the things that I really care about or hope to accomplish. This painting was made over the span of two weeks using acrylic paint on canvas. The central jar represents my heart while the tag shows the contents inside, illustrating my dreams. Among these items, you’ll find a detective, a chef, a veterinarian, a singer/songwriter, a doctor/nurse, an author, our fashion business “Fields of Fashion“ with my best friend-Emma, boxing, and a symbol of love. Each image reflects a passion or goal, from solving mysteries to helping animals to creating music and art. The ribbon behind the jar signifies that these dreams are a precious gift. I will most likely be unable to fulfill each and every one of these goals, so everything that I would be able to achieve is like a gift. However, this painting also acknowledges the limitations we have. As a middle school student, I have school, relationships, and my health to maintain in addition to all of these aspirations. This piece is a window into my evolving self, my dreams have changed and will continue to change. “A Jar of Dreams” captures the dreams that shape my identity and guide my future.
