Artist Statement:
Inspired by Siilavut, Nunavut’s composition, I created a childish flower-shaped piece, with petals branching off from a circular center. In order to explore the idea of childhood identities shaping our later identities, I drew items that peers said represented their childhood selves in the center and created patterns with items representing their current selves on the petals, alternated with excerpts from current favorite books to continue a motif of text throughout the piece and exhibition.
