Artist Statement: Inspired by the natural gloominess of Chicago, Illinois, From one end of the pier is meant to show off the dangerous job of being an iron-worker on the Great Lakes. Shown in my photo, large amounts of fog and ice made traveling on large freighters carrying iron ore very dangerous. The iron and subsequent steel brought to cities by these hard working people is what made all the skyscrapers and architecture possible.
