Artist Statement: For my senior sunrise photo, I wanted to capture a moment of connection and nostalgia that embodied the friendships and memories of my high school years. Senior sunrise marks the beginning of our final year, a moment of reflection and excitement for what’s ahead. The image I created represents more than just the sun rising; it reflects the emotional warmth of shared experiences, laughter, and the bonds that have shaped us.
I took this photo because it was a spontaneous, intimate moment. I was inspired by the soft, golden light and the silhouettes of friends gathered together, all looking toward the future. The simplicity of the scene felt meaningful, and I wanted to freeze that energy in time.
My process for this photo was about being present. I didn’t overthink the composition but rather focused on the emotion in the moment. I also enjoy using natural light because it feels organic and raw, which aligns with my desire to capture authentic, unfiltered memories.
