Materials: Craft paint
Description: The piece ‘bodycomplex’ depicts a figure as an apartment complex. Using craft paints, I used a monochromatic color scheme and values to relate the two subjects. With this piece I was attempting to convey the idea that our home and environment are an extension of our selves and an integral part of our identity.

Artist Statement: When I think of home, I think of the buildings we reside in. We have a unique relationship with the spaces that surround us. Growing up in Chicago, surrounded by rich architecture, led to a love of architecture, specifically Brutalism. The pieces I picked for this exhibition reflect an idea that I have focused on in much of my work: the relationship between architecture and the figure.
