Grade: 12

Materials: Tape
Dimensions: 20cm by 31cm
Description: This work’s intention is to warn humans of the destruction that they are causing nature. Hurricanes are a natural disaster that is connected to climate change. I hoped to use a variety of color with the tape to symbolize how the beauty of nature is being demolished by the storm and the more dire colors representing it. I placed thin strands of tape in the middle, creating a vortex that the beauty slips down. This work is inspired by Jackson Pollock, for it uses abstract elements for its purpose.

Artist Statement: The main idea in this exhibition is the human destruction of nature. This theme is explored through abstract media. All of the works are connected through their similar media, process, and theme. Their significance comes with the importance of climate change, and how it can destroy the world if humans do not protect it.
