Artist Statement: I created the work, ‘Solitude Creates Peace of Mind’, as part of my high school AP drawing class. In today’s world of constant media overload, world crisis, and violence, I was inspired to create art from a perspective of peace and solitude. Drawing and painting are my passions, and I have used pastel chalk and watercolor paint for these drawings. I particularly enjoy the colors that I can create with these medium. I like to use color to evoke emotion. Creating art is a way for me to step out of the reality of today’s world, and let my mind go blank to create room for my creative process. Through making art, I like to give a unique perspective from a teenager growing up in today’s world. I hope that my work makes people stop and take a moment to think about the message I am sending. I use art as a part of my voice.
