Artist Statement: For my project, I chose to represent the song, “If I Can Dream” by Elvis Presley. I have loved Elvis’ music for my whole life, so it felt fitting to use one of his songs. With this song in particular, a lyric that stuck with me was “strong winds of promise, that will blow away the doubt and fear.” I immediately thought of my family’s cabin in Montana on Flathead Lake. No matter if I’m feeling scared, stressed, angry, or sad, being there will erase all of my negative emotions and give me a positive perspective. Not just the location itself can do this, the people, memories, and places within Polson, MT can.
