Artist Statement: I made this ceramic box, titled “Under the Branch,” to encompass the feeling and style of some of my favorite magical, whimsical movies and book series that I enjoyed growing up, particularly Harry Potter, Shadow & Bone, and Star Wars. Some of the magical inspired elements of the box include the color and pattern of the box, the tree branch handle with energy-inspired orbs, the star detail on the bottom of the box, and the darkness of the inside of the box. I hope viewers will see the box and imagine a woodland and mystical landscape with magical elements like imagined places in books and movies.
