Artist Statement: I made these pieces because I wanted to illustrate the way I felt during these moments in my life instead of writing or talking about it. As a visual learner, I thought this would be best for both the audience and I. I’ve noticed that I like to capture moments that I felt positive about and create something out of them. I used multiple types of materials to make my art pieces because I wanted to explore and gain some experience from them. I used cameras, computers, Adobe Illustrator, charcoal, and pastel. My memories inspired and motivated me to create art out of these moments. Sometimes I would scroll through my camera roll and regain the same feeling that I felt during that time. It depends on the type of art that I decide to create. In my art piece, Death Valley, I started it off by taking a picture of the object. I would turn that picture into a sketch. I would use plumb lines to make sure it was as accurate as possible. For my digital art, I would start off by creating outlines of the things I want to add in the art piece. However, photography is a bit different. I would take multiple pictures until I found the right one. I make sure to change angles and positions.
