Artist Statement: The two pieces I submitted, while made for a school assignment, are reflections of personal feelings towards nature. Both of th pieces illustrate different relationships humans can have with nature as a being. The printmaking piece was inspired by South Korean artist SungSic Moon, illustrated the battle humanity and nature have over dominance and control. The graphite drawing shows the melancholic and bittersweet transition period of adolescence and how children and teenagers interact with nature. I was interested in working with printmaking and graphite because although they have stark contrasts, I feel most comfortable when working with those mediums. My artwork represents both my feeings about the envrionment but also my cofortability when making art.
