Description: Inspired by the cover of Batman: Earth One, a graphic novel by Geoff Johns, illustrated by Gary Frank, I placed Roald Amundsen in the background of a piece, with one of the sled dogs he had killed in the foreground. I used graphite for Amundsen as I felt I could best use graphite for shading to create a more realistic face. I used ink for the dog, so it would stand out against the graphite background. The greyscale was chosen to create a gloomy theme as it addresses how innovation sometimes inflicts pain on others.
