Artist Statement: My pieces are all created through a balance between preparation and spontaneity. Thumbnails, color mock-ups, and lighting experiments were all used in some form or another to create the final products. But this preparation is also intentionally left a bit short, allowing me to make spontaneous connections in the midst of art-making. Through art, I am a creator. With careful attention paid to the way that light bounces off of an object, the way that the human body’s weight rests, or just the curve of a form, I am able to remember and recreate. My artistic practice is focused both on experimentation, pushing myself to explore new mediums or techniques to expand the creativity of my pieces, and focus, taking into account the relationships between forces that touch these real forms. I wish to make a viewer look twice at my work, to be pulled in and find more and more hidden details within.
