Artist Statement: The theme I was trying to go for is self image and changing identity. Ive often shown my changes in how I identify myself through my hair, so I wanted to connect those two things together. The perspective of looking through the mirror is intentional. I’m not only changing the way others see me, but also the way I see myself. I have hair dye all over myself because, for me, understanding ones self is a messy experience. Its confusing and sometimes frustrating, but it’s one of the most freeing things I’ve ever felt.
