Artist Statement: The work portrays a caged mink with a paw placed on the door, begging to be freed. Borrowing elements from Together by Stephen Zhang, I created the same flowery watercolor painting. There are no sharp details, and each part moves into one another, creating movement and composition despite the monotone theme to emphasize that it is alive despite the torture. In the end, I splashed white acrylic paint to create a water-like texture on top of the cage to represent the abusive cleaning practices.
