Artist Statement: The needle-felted artwork is one of my proudest achievements. At the time, I was overwhelmed and muddled with emotions due to an ill family member and this art piece was an emotional outlet. I was up late, engrossed in how the wool merged with the fabric to assemble a picture of my cat and me gradually. My Advance Textile Fiber arts teacher and I were astonished by how well the piece turned out. At that moment, listening to all the praises I received from my teacher and peers filled me with joy. This accomplishment exemplifies my fondness for different art styles and has helped me boost my self-confidence. For years, I have been motivated to try different art styles including crocheting, gouache painting, weaving, sewing garments, silk painting, and knitting, and every time I complete a new work, I achieve a sense of satisfaction. My experience in attempting new art forms has conditioned me to adapt myself to new circumstances where I have to gain an entirely new skill set to be successful.
