Artist Statement: When creating any artwork, my purpose has rarely been to express specific ideas. From my brain, traveling to my shoulder and through my arm to finally reach my hand and the tip of my pencil, my subconscious leads me. Art is a form of escape. Either when painting or drawing, I don’t think about anything else, but my art. There is some sort of paradox. When I paint more than when I draw, I loose track of everything around me, all of a sudden my eyes are closed. It is an obsession, I am still in control of everything, but my perception of reality is closed. And once this obsession, this urge, quits me, my subconscious goes back to sleep and I wake up. There is no such thing as one inspiration. My inspiration comes from everything around me, and it would be impossible to restraint it to just one thing. My experiences, mainly my observations, and the people I met all inspire me to create art.
