Artist Statement: As a whole, my work represents the person I am, the conflicts that I see in my everyday life, and more specifically how I perceive those issues. The confusion that comes with conflicts like overwhelming expectations, peer pressure, self doubts, and even questioning my identity, are all aspects I keep in mind when creating artwork with a deeper meaning, in addition to making it out of pure passion for art. I like for my artwork to be colorful when it’s allowed, so the work I’m submitting all uses a variety of colors that can represent the wide range of emotions I feel and perceive. It’s also through colors that I shine where other people either fear to tread a similar path or think colors are unfitting for a person like me. One of the most fundamental missions in my artwork is to break stereotypical barriers, not follow the lead of everyone else, and eventually create my own path where others can be inspired and start their own path, continuing the cycle. Some things in art people are too afraid to try because their too busy trying to fit in with everyone else’s perception and feelings. I try to do the opposite, as I want to live a life of myself and don’t want any unneeded influence to compromise that goal.
