Artist Statement: This photo is a part of a set. Fred Hampton was a civil rights activist that inspired a lot of people and because of this the FBI labeled him a “Radical Threat.” For African Americans “Skin” is such a vast topic because we are not only judged by the color of our skin but also for scars, stretch marks, and our unique features. From the moment we are conceived we are “Labeled.” This happens all around the world but also inside our own communities. Leading to the bigger topic of colorism, and racism.
