Description: This is a segment of my short story comic “Laundry Day”. It is three episodes long and can be found on Webtoons. Following a young Ecuadorian boy’s changing relationship with his mother, this webcomic was recognized as a runner up in an international short story webcomic contest hosted by Webtoons.

Artist Statement: In my artwork, I aim to create relatable characters in underrepresented stories through a visual narrative and form- emphasizing personality, energy, and dynamic. All of my submitted pieces best demonstrate my intention of portraying a lively vibe- whether that’s through the curiosity of a changing landscape underwater, or the leap of a heart when your hiding location is given away. My primary method of art making is through digital art, planned beforehand with a multitude of thumbnails, and once done able to be adjusted through Photoshop’s tools. When making the art itself, I focused on channeling my own feelings into it, which leads to me mainly acting on impulse and intuition in my work. This is shown through the dynamicity of the lines, brushstrokes, and colors of the pieces. I emphasize this idea of impulse and energy in my work to capture “moment”.
