Artist Statement: I drew inspiration from the Yoruba river goddess, Osun, for this piece. Female practitioners of the Yoruba Religion, Ifa, pray to her for sensuality, control over sexuality, fertility, wealth, among other things. I wanted to capture the nature of her image without outright depicting her as she often is.
