School: Latino Youth High School
Artist Statement: The pandemic brought an abrupt end to our flute choir rehearsals and performances last year. In December 2020, I completed a new arrangement of the St. Petersburg Sleigh Ride by Richard Eilenberg for my flute choir, the Lakeside Flutes. I enlisted our members take part in a virtual performance and sent out a click track for our members to record their videos to in order to help synchronize parts. I didn’t want the performance to look like people playing in static boxes, so we included moving snowy backgrounds, an evening carnival and carousel, and other subtle and not so subtle enhancements to our video to make it a bit wacky and entertaining.
