Artist Statement: I created Carnival during an Early College Program at the Art Institute of Chicago over this past summer. In the piece, I addressed an individual’s response to her reality, exploring the themes of illusions and memories versus the present reality. The figure in the bottom right is a self portrait in charcoal, surrounded by a dreamlike carnival scene in pastel.
