Description: Exploring the gender spectrum and what is socially acceptable as we age with my 12 year old brother, on the cusp of adulthood. Exploring how gender identity becomes stricter, especially during teenage years.

Artist Statement: My work extends across a variety of different media including drawing, sculpture, videography, and painting. Photography is a practice that I have identified with for a long time and it crosses back and forth between documentary and fictional work. I’m interested in both equally and infuse each with my own concepts. I am very interested in history and its whitewashing, consequently some of my work is critical of this history. When it comes to my documentary work, I photograph everyday life moments in an objectively observational fashion, whereas my fictional/staged work usually has a more intentional story to tell. The only goal that I have is for my audience to leave with more thoughts, whether that be information, intrigue, questions, or ideas. The world is kind of my studio, in a way, and I enjoy using the places and people around me in my work.
