Artist Statement: There is never a specific reason why I create what I do. My work begins with a single subject, usually a random object in front of me, then my mind wanders. It divulges into a complete story-line, continuously building upon itself while I try to sketch the thought. Every piece starts with a rough sketch that only I can decipher, then evolves. Usually taking on a more supernatural aspect as my mind tends to create fascinating ideas that, unfortunately, don’t exist.

My work is heavily influenced by my environment. Depending on what I’m listening to, how stressed or tired I am, or even what I eat in the day shows itself in the work, changing the overall tone because of what’s happening to me during its’ creation. Even after I finish what I originally intended to draw, I ask myself “If this was made by someone else, would I still like it?” With that in mind, I usually spend a few more hours or days on it to not only impress myself but anyone else who happens to see it. For me to declare a work finished, I need to feel satisfied, to know that there is nothing else I can add or change to enhance it overall. No matter how hard I try, the final product never looks like the original sketch, but I feel it is better to be unintended rather than just color within the lines.
