Artist Statement: This photograph was taken on the hot summer day of June 6th, 2020 in Chicago IL. My partner turned their head to view the Back Lives Matter protest on State Street. We watched in silence, listening to the passionate crowd. As the protesters moved past, my partner continued to wash the grime from our balcony window. I couldn’t help but feel there was more than just dirt being scrubbed away in that moment; everything became a bit more clear.
