Description: Within my art I photograph black beauty to help contribute to the space of black artists and creatives, I also touch on a lot of social issues such as capitalism, gentrification, homelessness, and racism. These are topics I tend to incorporate within my photos because I want to give a sense of realism and exposure. A-lot of privileged people never get to see the result of their privilege and the consequences the lower-class community has to face as a result of capitalist greed. I photographed the gentrification that’s within my neighborhood because of it’s rapid spread around Chicago, which result in many elderly and disabled being tricked into selling their home for below-average prices. I show how many of the oppressors of this problem prefer to stay ignorant and turn away in the name of bliss.
