Artist Statement: For many Native Americans, addiction is a result of drugs used to cope and numb the pain of the abnormal amount of trauma they have dealt with in their life. This artwork was created for a creative choice project on the Native American Struggles unit. The stylistic choices I made can make the viewer connect, feel, and understand the themes of trauma and addiction in most Native Americans.
