Artist Statement: As a young child, I have always been amazed by the unique, anatomical designs of animals and insects. This amazement caused me to create visual portrayals on pieces of paper. These portrayals suddenly turned into artworks that have increased in detail, organization, and creativity over time. As I have grown up, I began to hear stories from my Cuban father on how he had escaped the country of Cuba and emigrated to America. I have also listened to my mother’s stories of her life in America and her parents who struggled to create a good life for their children. These personal stories sparked my fascination, and this fascination in storytelling only swelled and bloated as I watched historical documentaries and delved into the realm of Science Fiction and Fantasy. When I matured, I looked deeper into historical events and the lore of the fictional franchises which later blended in to my art. Now I look at digital art majors such as Sequential Art, Video Game design or Digital Media: majors that have that beautiful blend of art and storytelling.
