Artist Statement: Medusa is the first character that comes to mind when I think about Greek Mythology because of her unique powers and characteristics, however, after doing research I learned that she has a pretty tragic story. She was a priestess in Athena’s temple before Athena unjustly cursed her and banished her to an island. In this illustration, I wanted to capture the feelings Medusa had looking back at her past self longingly.
