Artist Statement: In my paintings I tried hard to capture the beauty of a woman’s body. I sat still for maybe just 30 minutes staring at my blank canvas seeing all the different color and paints. The message I wanted to get at was self-confidence, self-worth, love yourself. I thought “What better to show that than painting myself?” I think that a silhouette says a lot with very little information. So then I thought, Well, what do I want people to feel when they look at this painting? I think that people view the female body as a sexual object. Like it is all they’re worth if you’re a woman with no sex appeal? What would I want with you? Purple is a very sensual, flirty, kind of passionate color. A circle is a round plane figure whose boundary consists of points equidistant from a fixed point. Equidistant means equal distances. Perfection.
