Artist Statement: This piece was made as a black women in general. On a daily basis we get bashed for being who we are; our skin, lips, hair and our bodies. Other women of different ethnic groups get praised for stealing our blueprint, our style. Being able to express my pain in my art with this piece is beautiful because it gives my viewers a representation of something I couldn’t say in words. I hope a black women or girl looks at this piece and sees the strength and beauty of being who they are. We are QUEENS.
