Artist Statement: I made this piece as an assignment for my visual arts class, learning photograph and the techniques that are used. Taking this photo I used patterns and depth as my technique. The pattern is on the fence and the depth of the photo is used with the layers of the photo that the human eye naturally separates, allowing you to see the overlapping of the nature in the background and the fence. In the photo I’m trying to portray the idea of how many people are on one side of the fence being “our world” and on the other side is the serenity of nature that not many people cross the fence to see.
