Artist Statement: The artwork in my submitted portfolio embodies the emotions I feel when creating a piece. My process begins with my emotions. How I feel determines the colors I use and the images I create. This is why I mainly work with portraiture, I want the emotions to come alive, as they do on real people, through the use of color. I work primarily with watercolors because I enjoy how easily I can manipulate the intensity of the colors by simply adding a different concentration of water. It is rare for me to finish a piece in one sitting for I spend quite a long time creating an artwork I truly love.
