Description: This artwork is inspired by a still life setup of a fake animal skull resting on a vibrant green blanket accompanied by a blooming sunflower. I created this artwork over the course of a week while having my easel propped up next to the still life. This artwork was created on a wood canvas with oil paints with multiple sized paint brushes. I started off with first painting the skull, then the sunflowers and then filled all the blanks with the background. A big process of mine was color matching. This was a very slow process that required develop and craft. Color matching was important to make my artwork as realistic as possible making sure the light o each shadow and highlight was perfectly represented. I chose to place the sunflower next to the skull because it creates a contrast between life and death. It shows that although the flower is in its peak of life and is still living the skull is infinite. The skull will be here to see many lifetimes which the flower represents and will stand its test of time while the sunflower will come and go. This symbolizes different personalities and memories. Those who learn from their mistakes and use their obstacles as life lessons will not give up after one season and will become like the skull gaining character development. Also like the skull they will witness a thousand different life times as each time they will act differently having their memories last forever.
