Artist Statement:
My name is Jayda Cooks. I am a 4th grader at McDowell Elementary. My painting is about little girls who dreamed about going to the moon, but not by a rocket ship. No, these girls dreamt about flying. They dreamt about not needing a helmet to breathe in outer space. I used a chunky texture to mimic the houses in my dreams, which are thick and textured. When people look at my painting, I want it to remind them of their childhood when things were easier, which is why I used the primary colors. I am most proud of the figures of the little girls I painted. I see myself in this world in my dreams and I feel like my painting is a good representation of that.
