Artist Statement:
I made this drawing that I really love. It contains different objects that are significant in my life. The drawing reflects on my own dreams and emotions. This piece of art was made with pencils, markers, a pen, a ruler, and cotton swabs. The process was pretty simple (for simple), but I put a lot of effort into it. I started with objects that will be easily noticed in front of the drawing. I drew the buildings with a ruler, then shade with pencil and a cotton swab.
I drew the meteor and the sun/moon that plays a big part in the emotion part. The meteor represents a symbol of destruction and chaos. The sun/moon also represent a symbol of the supernatural and the feeling of something not being real (to me). I drew the spacecraft and the cow because the cow is being taken from the other cows, that is how I sometimes feel; loneliness.
I then drew the angel shooting heart arrows at the whale. I drew this because I never thought that I would ever like someone other than my family. The whale is me. Even though I was a giant, fearless, and neutral, I was wrong. So I drew the man breaking a heart because during my life I tried to escape romantic love. It hurts. It hurts to know that the person you love the most is the one who hurt you the most.
Lastly, I drew the falling stars. The stars are a part of me, I feel like things are changing; things are falling apart from me. I know I won’t be the same. Stars die and new ones come to life and exist.
