Description: Inspired by the fear of being watched, or “scopophobia”, this piece uses dark contrasting values with a bold red to unify the piece and keep interest. The fog adorning the sides of the subject’s face represents the suffocating feeling one may get when in a crowd and being watched.
Artist Statement: My art is my passion and my goal is to demonstrate how the gaze of the viewer effects the art we create. I have always been very aware of the gaze, and I wanted to create dynamic artworks that bring my personal interpretations of the harms it causes to the viewer, through symbolic approaches.
