Artist Statement: For this project, students explored the photographic genre of The Constructed Image — an approach that subverts photography’s relationship to “truth” by creating elaborate fictions that manipulate reality in front of the camera.
In the Imagined Spaces project, students had to construct an immersive, small scale space, place, or landscape using materials of their choosing. They first had to develop a concept, then work to stage, design, and light it in ways that felt as though we could step into the imaginary world they created.
