Description: I wanted to express the life under the crotch bone of a woman, the butterfly represents the newborn, and above the butterfly is an unformed baby. I chose bolder and more obvious colors and finally darkened it with black to highlight the hip bone in the middle. It has the feeling of being the only bright light in the darkness.
Artist Statement: My work is about life, fertility, and women. I see a lot of stories online about women’s fertility issues. In some places, women are equated with fertility. A woman without children is ungrateful and against morality. In my family, fertility was a very conservative thing; they never told me anything about it, and even sex was off-limits. Early on, I felt awkward and uncomfortable when I heard the words “fertility” and “sex”. What inspired me to learn more about women’s power and fertility issues was that I wanted the public to hear what they were feeling inside and in their bodies.
