Artist statement: I created this art piece to represent how obsession with our art can affect our lives. We, as creatives, often invest a significant amount of time into our art because it seems like we are missing something – whether that’s social interactions or something else. We become most disappointed in ourselves when we fail in our art. I wanted to visually depict those emotions through my piece. My biggest inspiration is Takashi Murakami, a printmaker from Japan who creates exciting color designs and characters. I like to imagine painting like he does, and to me, that means having free will on the canvas.
