Fashion design has been my passion ever since I was a very young child, with fashion I can express myself & reach a higher level of confidence & empowerment. My greatest inspiration in regard to fashion design was always Channel and Gucci. Channel’s classic monochromatic looks & usage of tweed made their clothing very sophisticated and Gucci’s designs always caught my attention because of their use of vibrant colors & gorgeous floral patterns. These two designers have inspired me to create classy garments with very vibrant colors & decorative frills on fabric; such as ruffles & lace. Roaming around the clothing stores I get inspired whenever I see clothing pieces with gorgeous small details, the type of fabric used, and the shape of the pattern of the garment. Additionally, I get inspiration from Pinterest & fashion design artists that pop up on my Instagram feed. The moment I create designs, I love using Prisma color pencils because of the vibrant colors these pencils give off. These pencils also provide a smooth texture when I begin to blend them. I use markers as my base to color the clothing garment and then with Prisma colored pencils I finish coloring the garment to give it a clean & smoother texture on the paper. Every year, because I am in the visual arts program, in my high school we have the annual art shows during the fall & spring. In each art show, I add about 3-4 pieces, each piece is explored through different materials & mediums. I incorporate artworks made with oil pastels, acrylic paints, watercolors, and even sculptures. As I continue to create fashion sketches, my passion increases each time & my excitement grows as well; allowing my imagination to expand with new ideas.
