Artist Statement: Nyjah Scurlock (b. 2004, Chicago, United States) is a photographer who lives and works in Chicago. They work in this medium because they find photography to be very therapeutic. working with a digital camera and taking photos of things that they love in their life makes them very happy. They are inspired by the visual artist They are inspired by Katie Joy Crawford because her photos help them with their senior concentration, for this reason, they want to portray their life as a teenager that deals with mental health regularly and show what they look like also how they deal with my personal life.
The main subject of Scurlock’s work is themself. They normally take pictures of nature and landscapes but they want to get comfortable in front of the camera which is important to them because this is important to them because they want to connect with their camera and become one with photography.
