Description: Meditation in Death
Artist Statement: I was first inspired to do this piece after hearing the song “I love men” by Cinema. Originally it was going to be a collage of brutal historical figures like Genghis Kahn, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong and Atilla with an angel of death in the middle gushing at the amount of destruction that has been done but during the art process there was a change of focus. I was far more interested in placing a focus on the figure of death I had made and using her as the main subject. Now although I had scrapped the original idea of a collage, the finished collage can still be seen in the background only so slightly. Overall I have many uncertainties with these piece and the alternative routes I could have taken during my process but alas there’s nothing more I can do but meditate.
