Artist Statement: The photo, Prisoner, was shot with a group and was made for a school assignment. Our inspiration was showing how restless a person can get when feeling imprisoned, in this case the pandemic still not being over and the unforeseeable end of masks. We had our model pose as if she was tired and resentful. The work shows how creativity along with our routines can be limited when all normalcy is gone. We used lights which added more shadows and used a chair as a prop to show the model’s attitude by the way she posed. The black backdrop we chose to add mystery to the picture and to highlight her facial expressions to evoke empathy from the audience.
