Artist Statement: The piece “Help Them See” is my interpretation of a person with both male and female features. I did this to challenge my ability to combine different features of other genders while still being able to make the outcome look natural. I did this piece in this way in hopes to show people that gender is not always what they perceive it as to everyone else and that someones “gender” isn’t necessarily their identity. Some people may see this painting as a man and some may see it as a woman but it is just a human.
